Historical Note

Committee appointed by the General Assembly (Jeremiah Olney & John S. Dexter) under Resolution # 159 dated January 16, 1790 to provide an account of invalid pensioners and the return of officers who died in the service of the United States whose widows and orphans were entitled to seven years half pay. The committee was to ascertain the demands against the State as of March 4, 1789 and to determine the value of monies advanced and transmit the returns to General Knox, Secretary of War of the United States.
