Biographical / Historical

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) has provided mass transit service in Rhode Island for 50 years. As the state’s Mobility Manager, RIPTA operates nearly 3,000 daily trips on 55 fixed bus routes. RIPTA also provides ADA Paratransit Service and operates in seven Flex Services zones serving ten communities. RIPTA is governed by an eight-member Board of Directors nominated by the Governor and confirmed by the Senate.
