Pursuant to Section 42-119 of the Rhode Island General Laws, enacted in July 1992, the Tipping Fee Commission completed this report to analyze and determine the necessary cash requirements of the Rhode Island Solid Waste Management Corporation for the period October 1, 1992 through June 30, 1993, and set a municipal tip fee for such a period.

The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority was created in 1954 by the Rhode Island General Assembly as a corporate body with authority to construct, acquire, maintain and operate bridge projects as defined by law. The collection consists of photographs, news clippings, plan drawings and related ephemera documenting building, opening and maintenance of both the Newport Bridge and the Mount Hope Bridge.

This plan presents data on baseline water use, demand management, and supply and supply management. The findings, conclusions, and recommendations presented in the plan reflect the results of an extensive study involving the analysis of water supply in the state of Rhode Island in the year 1991 to predict future water needs.

Scope and Contents

The report represents the first phase of a long-range water supply plan for Rhode Island. It summarizes the efforts of two water policy conferences held in 1983 and 1984; and it attempts to integrate the specific policies with other elements of the State Guide Plan, so as to guide protection and development of water sources, promote conservation, and coordinate water system development with implementation of the land use plan and wastewater disposal needs.
